Week 1 of the 2020 NFL season may be very different than normal.

A COVID-19 format may present some value on the road teams in Week 1.

Teasing down a road-favorite is normally not a profitable teaser strategy.

However, you may find value in road teams under the 2020 COVID-19 “no fans” or “limited fans” settings.

I’ll give you my 3 best teasers for NFL Week 1.

Current 6 point teaser lines

-Eagles pick em

-Colts -1

Both the Eagles and Colts have a similar handicap as they are the superior team in their Week 1 match-up and both teams have a great shot to win their division.

Both the Colts and Eagles are at the top of their division in season win total projections and the Redskins and Jaguars are at the bottom.

Pro Football Focus Top 10 worst overall teams in 2019

Both the Jaguars and Redskins were two of the worst teams in 2019 and will most likely be a bottom 10 team in 2020 as well.

The limited fans setting should make these essentially neutral site games with no home field advantage to be factored in.

All we need is the better team to win a division game.

Bottom Tier Quarterbacks

The reason I like these game so much is because of the opponent quarterbacks.

Both Haskins and Minshew ranked near the bottom of the league in adjusted QBR by FootballOutisders.

I will gladly fade both sophomore QBs as neither were impressive last season.

Minshew ranked #29 in QBR and posted a -5% DVOA and Haskins ranked #34 in QBR with a -42% DVOA.

-Buccaneers +10

I will be the first to say I am not anointing Brady and the Bucs as the NFC front runners but there are too many factors not to like about the Buccaneers in this matchup.

The 2019 Buccaneers were overshadowed by the bipolar QB play of Jameis Winston in 2019.

Winston was the NFL’s first 30 TD and 30 interception QB in a single season

However the defense was solid….

Buccaneers ranked #13 in total defense by Pro Football Focus
Buccaneers ranked #5 in Football Outsiders Total Defense

The Buccaneers should be a solid team in 2020 with more consistent QB play from Tom Brady.

Heck, their win total stands around 9.5 or 10.

If the COVID-19 climate makes for a neutral site like setting… 10 points is way to many in a very winnable game for the Bucs.
